A correspondent named “Black Head” from Leet on Big Ugly Creek in Lincoln County, West Virginia, offered the following items, which the Logan Banner printed on June 29, 1923:

Here we come again as before, making folks interested in the Dear Old Banner.

We had a nice meeting at the Lucas school house Sunday, also baptizing.

Mr. Wayne C. Brumfield attended church Sunday.

Miss Thelma E. Huffman enjoyed herself Sunday with Mr. Brumfield.

Miss Wealtha Lambert was the guest of Miss Thelma Huffman Sunday.

Mr. George Hager and Miss Girty Smith were seen out horse back riding.

Hazel M. Toney visited her grandmother recently.

Miss Tinnie Brumfield entertained a lot of company Sunday.

Edna Brumfield seems to be awful downhearted. She didn’t go anyplace Sunday. We hope she will soon cheer up.

Lucy Reynolds made a flying trip to the dentist in Logan one day last week.

Mrs. Georgia Huffman and little kids are coming to visit Mrs. L. Huffman.

There have been a lot of boys and girls in bathing here.

Some Combinations: Wayne and his sweetie, Lomie and his house, Tillie and her pink smock, Wealth and her parasol, Hazel going to grandma’s, Thelma and her hoe going to the cornfield, Forest and a por(?) fish.

A correspondent named “Blues” from Leet on Big Ugly Creek in Lincoln County, West Virginia, offered the following items, which the Logan Banner printed on September 21, 1923:

We are having some nice weather at this writing and everybody seems to be enjoying life.

School is progressing nicely here under the management of W.J. Bachtel, principal.

Here we come with our bit of news.

Born, to Mr. and Mrs. Linzie Huffman, a big girl baby.

Mr. James Gill and wife and little granddaughter are spending a few days of their vacation in Salt Rock, West Virginia.

Miss Thelma Huffman, Miss Tinnie Brumfield and some other girls were out car riding Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Betty Hannah has been visiting friends in Leet.

Mr. J.B. Parsley and daughters of Ottawa visited Mr. Huffman Sunday.

Miss Wealtha Lambert and two sisters were out walking Sunday afternoon.

Misses Laura and Edith Frye will give a party Wednesday night.

Mr. Irvin Lucas was calling at the home of Miss Dora Skeens Sunday.

Nora Lucas, Angie Lucas, Clarence Lambert were out horse back riding Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. Lizzie Frye visited at Mrs. Huffman’s Saturday evening.

Mr. Walton Payne visited home folks last week.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. John Hordon, a fine boy baby.

Miss Tillie Lucas has gone back to her work at Hamlin.

Mr. Evert Brumfield is visiting friends and relatives at Leet this week.
