The Trough Fork school will close on the 23rd day of this month. Everybody come.

Woodrow Workman has returned home from a two weeks vacation on Francis Creek.

Jim Ramey celebrated his sixtieth birthday last Thursday.

Miss Minnie Workman was the guest of May Caines Monday.

Miss Eva Workman was visiting the post office Friday.

W.H. Mann is attending court this week at Hamlin.

Minnie and Eva Workman took dinner with Ora Mann Monday.

Garland Spry was rabbit hunting Sunday.

Minnie and Eva Workman made a flying trip to Francis Creek Sunday and back home Monday. They reported a good time.

Ora Mann and Eva Workman are going to the commencement exercise of Mrs. Victoria Maynard’s school next Wednesday.

W.H. Tomlin is grieving about his son Charlie, who is about to get married. He says if Charlie marries he is broke up.

Nancy Shepherd, who was reported sick a few weeks ago, is some better.

Virgie Mann was visiting friends on Francis Creek Sunday.

Minnie Workman is going to school every day. She says her school will soon close and she will go to Wayne to go to school.

A few weeks ago the farmers were thinking of planting corn. Now they are better satisfied sitting by the fire.

I wonder when Wayne Maynard is coming back home.

Arnold Workman has built a new chicken house. He says he can’t feed his poultry and chickens together.

Woodrow Workman got his fine coon dog caught in a trap. He says he will soon recover.

Frank Mann made a business trip to Big Creek Monday.

Wiley and Albert Queen were on our streets hauling coal last week.

Wonder where Silas Spry was Sunday? Guess he ran into a stump and bumped his nose and stumped his toes.

Elmer Frazier and his hat are getting along fine.

Emery Bryant was calling on Sallie Mann Sunday.

Jinks Mann is still going to see Ocie Spry every Sunday.

Little Monroe Workman is drawing a pension. He had his dog’s life insured and killed the dog to get the insurance.

The Mans school is progressing nicely.

Fern Pack was calling on Rosa Mans Sunday.

Little Tom Mans had bad luck Saturday night. He and his __ seemed to have a falling out.

Eva Workman is all smiles this week. Says that she had a letter from Mr. Moore.

Cheer up girls and don’t be down-hearted because of so many weddings. You won’t have so many to select from.

Minnie and Eva Workman were calling on Ora Manns Saturday and Sunday. They took a horseback ride and reported a nice time.

Gradie Mans has just returned from a week’s vacation with friends at Rocky.

Albert Carter and Emery Bryant were seen on our streets today horseback riding.

W.H. Mans left for Huff Creek Sunday evening.

Woodrow Workman is raising a coon dog. He states that he is an awful good dog to tree possums.

Miles Browning has a broken leg. We are sorry to hear of his accident and hope that he will soon be well.

Minnie Workman goes to school every day.

Victoria Maynard and her sister Ocie Spry were visiting their mother Sunday.

Nancy Shepherd is very ill this week with a sore finger.

Pat Napier died last Friday with pneumonia and was buried on Saturday.

Frank and Otto Manis are working on Huffs Creek.

Miss Bernice Ward was hostess to a party of her friends at her home Friday evening. Those present were: Misses Inez Barker, Ella Toney, Beulah Ballard, Martha Dingess, Minnie and Grace Workman, Minnie Ferrell, G.W. McCloud, Tracy Vickers, James Turner, Bud Waugh, Paul winter, B.H. Grace, Arnold Barker, Dallas Toney, Virgie Ferrell, Ward Ferrell, Carlos Ferrell, and Ernest and Cecil Ward. All reported a lovely time.

Dr. and Mrs. D.J. Ferrell are visiting relatives and friends in New Haven this week.

Miss Beulah Ballard returned to her home here Wednesday after a visit with relatives in Huntington.

Mrs. W.V. Ferrell and Mrs. H.T. Toney are visiting relatives in Flatwoods, W.Va.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis spent the weekend in Huntington.

We are indeed sorry to report the sudden illness of Mr. G.S. Ferrell who was rushed to a hospital in Huntington Friday afternoon.

Miss Margaret Dingess of Godby was calling on Miss Susie Carper Sunday.

Daily scenes in our village–Mabel and her groceries; Inez working in the office; Paul keeping store; G.W. and his car; Kyle in the garage; Bias and that pipe; Ella Jane and Ward.

Mr. and Mrs. Wetzel Raines of Peach Creek were calling on friends here Sunday.

Here we come with a few items from Chapmanville.

Chapmanville isn’t anything but a mud hole nowadays.

Mr. John F. Ferrell from Virginia was visiting relatives in our town for the past week.

Grover Lowe from Stollings attended Sunday school here last Sunday. Everyone was pleased to see him.

Dr. Ferrell and Miss Collins were seen at church Sunday morning.

Emmett Raines was calling on Miss Willa Lowe Sunday.

Watta Workman, Miss Gladys Lowe, Jim Turner and Miss Grace Workman attended church Sunday night.

Daily happenings: Inez teaching school; Mabel going to the post office; Lamar calling on Maude; Walter going to see Carrie; Victor Toney and his smiles; Beulah and her toboggan; Minnie Workman and her spit curl; Wetzel calling on Callie; Brook looking for Nelse; Dennis and his sweetie; Ward looking for Bernice.

O.F. Ferrell, who fell and hurt himself, is slowly improving.

Herman Lucas, who has been ill for the past week, is able to be out again.

Miss Fay Turner has returned to Huntington where she is attending high school.

Miss Bernice Ward has returned to Logan where she is attending school.

Miss Callie Ferrell has returned from Stollings where she had been visiting her brother.

Misses Minnie and Gracie Workman gave a party Saturday night. All reported a nice time.

Mrs. Ellen Conley is seriously ill at this writing. We wish her a quick recovery.

We are having some nice weather at this writing.

Mrs. Rosie Price was visiting her daughter, Mrs. M.C. Conley, Sunday.

Arnold Barker and Virgil Ferrell were out walking Sunday.

Miss Opal Johnson seemed to be awful busy sewing flower seeds Saturday afternoon.

Walter and Carlos Ferrell were seen walking the lonesome road Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Munsey and Jack Conley were working on their automobile Sunday morning.

The Phico girls and boys seem to enjoy coming to Chapmanville church nowadays.

Miss Gracie Workman was out horse back riding Sunday afternoon.

Wonder why Mr. L.F. Price is visiting in Big Creek so often.

Mrs. Garnet Jeffery and children were visiting her mother Saturday and Sunday.

Wonder why Arnold Barker is looking so downhearted nowadays? Cheer up, Arnold. Maybe it is not so.

Walter Workman escorted Miss Connie Bentley home Saturday night from church.

Robert Carter was out horseback riding early Saturday morning.

Brack Walls escorted Elna Cox home from church Friday night.

We all hope Miss Beulah Ballard and Mr. Snidow will get along fine with the Diploma test this year.

Opal Johnson, Lillian and Agnes Whitman were out walking Sunday.

Misses Hazel Conley and Minnie Workman were out walking Saturday afternoon.

Tom Barker is enjoying life fine, going up Lowe Hollow nowadays.

Misses Agness Whitman, Hazel McCloud and Nilla Lowe were out strolling Sunday afternoon.

Miss Ruby Blankenship of Huntington was visiting relatives of this place through the weekend.

Sarless Ferrell escorted Miss Inez Barker home from church Sunday night.

Misses Opa Johnson, Lillian Johnson, and cousin were out walking Sunday.

Miss Gracie Johnson, Broda Johnson, and Minnie Workman were visiting in Stone Branch Sunday morning.

Oza Workman hasn’t been calling on Miss Beulah Ballard lately.

We are glad to say that Miss Marie Lucas is able to get out.

Otto Shuff was visiting Ed Johnson Saturday night.

We are sorry to report the death of Mr. Ike Jeffrey.

Born to Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jordan, April 26, 1926, a girl.

Miss Reva Childress was seen at church Sunday night.

Naaman Jackson, G.R. Claypool, A.D. Cook, and W.J. Bachtel were here on business last Saturday.

Space will not permit a list of those politically ill, as we promised last week from this town.

It is reported they had an old fashioned head-skinning on Crawley’s Creek Sunday evening near the mouth of Pitt Branch.

Mrs. Burns, the district music teacher, left on Tuesday of this week for her home in Pittsburg, Pa.

Everything seemed to be in the clear here on Saturday night when the state police were here. Come again, boys. Better luck next time, we hope.

First meeting of the Chapmanville Water Works Co. was held last Tuesday. The time was mostly consumed by listening to appropriate estimated for material.

A goodly number of circus fans attended the circus at Logan Monday evening from this place.

Dr. Ferrell seemed to be the only Democrat here that got anything out of the last election. He has issued over $100 worth of pills to sick Democrats since the Supreme Court’s decision. Some of the boys though are convalescing.
