The 129th Regiment Virginia Militia, commanded by Colonel John DeJarnett, consisted of men primarily from Logan County, (West) Virginia. The 129th existed to protect Logan County. Carter’s Company, captained by Barnett “Barney” Carter, consisted of many Harts Creek men, all of whom enlisted on 27 August 1861 at Logan Court House, Logan County, (West) Virginia. The 129th, including Carter’s Company, participated in the Battle of Boone Court House on 1 September 1861 and the Battle of Kanawha Gap on 25 September 1861. In 1862, Carter’s Company essentially became Company D, 34th Battalion Virginia Cavalry. (This list will be updated periodically.)

WOW! A lot of my family in this! Fulton Ferrell was my paternal great grandmother Elizabeth Ferrell Barker’s father. Ben Barker was my great, great grandfather, he married Adeline Fry and Anderson was his brother. One of Ben’s sons Leftridge married Elizabeth Ferrell. My grandmother’s great aunt, Mary Ann married William Abbott, related to Albert Abbott?
I know there’s some Workmans, Godbys and Toneys in the mix too! Heck I’m probably related to every one in Logan County! lol

I’ve recently been researching some genealogy and came across a Pyrrhus Evans, a Private of Capt. David Wilkinson’s Co No. 8 of the 129th Regiment of the Virginia Militia. He was later transferred to a Capt. Baisdens Co. Would you happen to have any information on him? Pyrrhus was also from Harts Creek.
I don’t recognize Pyrrhus Evans as a Harts Creek name. Pyrrhus/Paris Hensley, yes.
