I’m curious as to how you know the child’s name was Mattie Buskirk. U.B.’s brother, George had a daughter named Mattie with his first wife. After that first wife’s death, George remarried and had other children. For some reason, Mattie then lived with George’s mother Louisa and her husband H.C. Ragland until she died at age twelve.
