Was Crockett and Dorcas parents to Crockett and Mary Ann Farley? They were my great grandparents and if so my mother, Eveleen Adams, said they came over from England. I love reading how the old days were where I grew up. When my grandmother, Letie Adams, passed away several years ago, she had old receipts of what they’d paid for land, etc. back 75 – 80 years ago. Mavis Adams-Layton
Yes. Thomas J. “Crockett” Farley was the son of William and Elizabeth Jane (Clark) Farley. His father was born in 1794 in Montgomery County, Virginia.
We have Dorcas Kelley as my great grandfather’s mother. Rumor has it he was born Millard Sammons (1877-1959). He shot a man and was sent to live with his cousin and he was caught by revenuers and sent to prison. He then changed his name to Blaine Thompson. Do you know anything about this?????
Hi, Pam. Yes, I’ve heard that story. I have seen some of the old newspaper articles about the killing.
I would love to see those too!!
