An unknown correspondent from Big Creek in Logan County, West Virginia, offered the following items, which the Logan Banner printed on February 7, 1928:

Mrs. Pearl Harmon has been in the C. & O. hospital at Huntington but is home again.

Little Nell Marie Gill has returned home again from a visit with her grandmother at Gill.

Mrs. Minta Jeffrey of Banco was a business caller here today.

Geo. Chafin and A.J. Thomas of Logan were Big Creek callers Thursday.

Mrs. C.C. Varney and daughter Madeline were calling on Mrs. Myrtie Lucas Thursday afternoon.

Mrs. Flora Lucas was the pleasant guest of Mrs. Myrtle Lucas one day last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hager and son Jack are visiting friends and relatives at Banco this week.

J.B. Lucas made a business trip to Chapmanville Saturday.

Edward Ferrell is store clerk in the Hunter store at present. Be careful, girls, and don’t stay too too long when shopping.

J.B. Thomas was a business caller in Logan this week.

An unknown correspondent from Banco on Big Creek in Logan County, West Virginia, offered the following items, which the Logan Banner printed on July 13, 1926:

Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Varney and children of Thomas Circle attended the singing school at Banco last Sunday conducted by Prof. Albert Estep of Limestone.

Mr. and Mrs. T.D. Butcher and children of Wilkinson motored through Banco Monday.

Mr. and Mrs. Ted Hager of Banco left for their home in Big Creek Monday.

Charlie Stone of Blair was the all-night guest of his parents Mr. and Mrs. J.A. Stone at this place last Wednesday.

Mr. and Mrs. John Vance and children motored to Hamlin in their new Ford last Tuesday.

J.A. Pardue and sister-in-law, Miss Sylvia Hinds, of Huntington motored to Banco last Sunday were the all-day guest of Mr. Pardue’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Pardue.

Rev. Jeffrey of Chapmanville was visiting his mother, Mrs. Minta Jeffrey, near Banco last week.

Spring Dale is getting livelier every day. W.M. Gullett has purchased a new truck to haul lumber.

Misses Hazel and Ruby Saunders spent the Fourth in Logan.

Miss Ollie and Mattie Varney and Irene Lunsford were calling in our town one evening last week.

H.F. Lucas, mother, and little sister Jeanne Eleanor returned from Nellis, W.Va., Monday. Mrs. Lucas reports her brother, C.A. Justice, who recently removed from Charleston hospital where he was operated on for appendicitis, is getting along nicely.

Mrs. Polly Ellis of Big Creek and Miss Cornell Chapman of Estep and Dr. Ferrell of Chapmanville were out motoring last Wednesday.

Luther Bias of Chapmanville sure does think a lot of the girls as he had three in his little Ford last Monday evening. Be careful, Bias. Don’t get too many. Someone might get jealous.

Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Lucas spent the Fourth of July with Mr. Lucas’ aunt, Mrs. Sarah Ferrell at Chapmanville.

An unknown local correspondent from Banco in Logan County, West Virginia, offered the following items, which the Logan Banner printed on April 30, 1926:

Everything is quiet in Banco at present, but we don’t expect it to be so very long as we will soon hear the chimes of wedding bells and the wedding procession will throng our town.

J.W. Thomas of Estep was the all day guest of his sister, Mrs. D.H. Harmon, of this place, one day last week.

James A. Stone of this place, while out car riding one day last week, found it necessary to crank his car when he received a Ford kick which was very painful and broke one bone of his right arm.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Jeffrey and children of Chapmanville were the weekend guests of Mr. Jeffrey’s mother, Mrs. Minta Jeffrey, near here.

Wonder what has become of the “dear hunter” at Estep?

Miss Maria Lucas has returned to her home at Banco after about six weeks in Chapmanville with an illness of measles and pneumonia. We sure are glad to have her back in Banco once more.

Misses Charlotte and Zella Chapman passed through Banco last Monday en route to Logan.

Victor Toney of Chapmanville was the guest of his uncle, Mr. B.B. Lucas, of Elm Street last Monday.

Miss Opal Workman of this place is visiting at Pumpkin Center this week.

Misses Ida Thomas, Pearl Hagen, and Ted Hager were calling on Miss Thomas’ parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Thomas, at Estep last Sunday.

Hassel Vance has purchased a fine pair of horses. He sure can take the girls out joyriding now.

Miss Minerva Vannatter of Dollie was shopping in Banco and Big Creek last Tuesday.

Wonder whose big car that was which went through Banco last week and attracted the attention of all the girls?

Joseph Vickers, formerly of Banco, after a long illness, died at the home of his oldest daughter, Mrs. Walton Garrett of Curry, W.Va., April 19th. His remains will be brought back to the Vickers cemetery on North Fork near his old home for interment.

Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Justice of Whitman were calling on relatives on Elm street last Sunday.

Robert Varney and little son Junior of Manbar were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Duty of Spring Dale last Sunday.

Earl Justice has obtained a new job at Whitman.
