The intermediate class of the Christian Sunday School motored to Blair Mountain Sunday where they enjoyed a picnic. Those enjoying the affair were: Mr. J.H. Barker, teacher; Misses Bernice Ward, Mabel Ferrell, Inez Barker, Oline Curry, Minnie Ferrell, Vivian Ferrell, Sarah Ferrell, Martha Dingess, Hazel McCloud, Lorena, Walton, Miss Rhoades, Lola Ferrell, Julia Ferrell, Beulah and Margaret Ballard, Dr. and Mrs. Ferrell, Paul Winter, Kyle Ballard, Ward Ferrell, Carlos Ferrell, Lamar Collins, Arnold Barker, Tracy Vickers, Dennis Stone, Joe Stone, Orville Barker, G.W. McCloud, G. Fowler, Bud Waugh, and Charley Garrett.

A wonderful time was reported.

Misses Ruby and Hazel Saunders of Big Creek were visiting here Saturday.

Mrs. A.F. Carper is visiting relatives in Montgomery at the present time.

Mrs. H.T. Toney who has been visiting relatives in Flatwoods returned to her home here Saturday.

Miss Tollie Ferrell of Logan spent Sunday here with homefolks.

Mrs. D.R. Hilton is visiting relatives at Price, W.Va.

Mr. Conley of Peach Creek was calling on Miss Barker Saturday evening.

Mrs. Lettie Munsey is conducting a revival at the Church of God. We hope she will be very successful.

Miss Bernice Ward was hostess to a party of her friends at her home Friday evening. Those present were: Misses Inez Barker, Ella Toney, Beulah Ballard, Martha Dingess, Minnie and Grace Workman, Minnie Ferrell, G.W. McCloud, Tracy Vickers, James Turner, Bud Waugh, Paul winter, B.H. Grace, Arnold Barker, Dallas Toney, Virgie Ferrell, Ward Ferrell, Carlos Ferrell, and Ernest and Cecil Ward. All reported a lovely time.

Dr. and Mrs. D.J. Ferrell are visiting relatives and friends in New Haven this week.

Miss Beulah Ballard returned to her home here Wednesday after a visit with relatives in Huntington.

Mrs. W.V. Ferrell and Mrs. H.T. Toney are visiting relatives in Flatwoods, W.Va.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis spent the weekend in Huntington.

We are indeed sorry to report the sudden illness of Mr. G.S. Ferrell who was rushed to a hospital in Huntington Friday afternoon.

Miss Margaret Dingess of Godby was calling on Miss Susie Carper Sunday.

Daily scenes in our village–Mabel and her groceries; Inez working in the office; Paul keeping store; G.W. and his car; Kyle in the garage; Bias and that pipe; Ella Jane and Ward.

Mr. and Mrs. Wetzel Raines of Peach Creek were calling on friends here Sunday.

Rev. Creeds preached at the Christian church Sunday morning and evening.

Miss Grace Workman left Thursday morning for Huntington where she will spend a few days.

Miss Susie Carper who has been in Roanoke, Va., for the past year returned to her home here this week.

Miss Inez Barker and Mrs. A.F. Carper spent the latter part of the week in Huntington.

Miss Nora Whitman of Man is visiting her sister of this place.

Miss Bernice Ward entertained at her home Saturday evening. Those present were: Ruby Saunders, E.J. Miss Inez Barker, president of the Young Peoples’ class of the Christian Sunday school, delightfully entertained the class at her home Saturday evening. Those present were: Lola Ferrell, Martha Dingess, Gladys Lowe, Bernice Ward, Beulah Ballard, Hazel Saunders, Ella Toney, Mabel Ferrell, Dr. Ferrell, Lemar Collins, Kyle Ballard, Burva Crace, Ernest Ward, Dallas Toney, Ward and Walter Ferrell, G.W. McCloud and Arnold Barker. All reported a wonderful time.

Rev. Screeds preached at the Christian church Sunday morning and Sunday evening.

Miss Ruby Saunders spent the week end at Big Creek.

Carlos Ferrell made a flying trip to Phico Sunday.

Miss Eva Barker of Henlawson was calling here Monday afternoon.

B.H. Snidow returned Monday after a business trip to Roanoke, Va.

Miss Bernice Ward entertained the Sunday school class at her home Saturday night. Those present were: Misses Ruby and Hazel Saunders, Beulah Ballard, Ella Mae Toney, Marie Lucas, Gladys Lowe, Inez Barker, Arnold Barker, Kyle Ballard, Ward Ferrell, Walter Ferrell, Lemar Collins, Fred and Jack Garrett, Wattie Workman, and Tracy Vickers. All reported a nice time.

Rev. Screeds of Omar preached at the Christian church Sunday forenoon and evening.

Miss Click spent Sunday in Henlawson.

Miss Ruth Queen spent the weekend in Big Creek.

Beulah looked rather downhearted Sunday. Wonder where her Phico friend was?

Miss Ella Toney and Blyss Toney made a business trip to Logan, Saturday.

Mr. Beamer who has been teaching here  left Friday for his home in Ravenswood.

Red Ferrell made a flying trip to ____ Sunday.

We are having some bad weather at this writing.

Miss Thelma Scaggs seemed to be enjoying herself Sunday evening.

It is sad to tell of the death of Miss Della Vanover who had been ill for some time with tuberculosis. Miss Vanover died at 4:30 Monday morning.

The death angel visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alva Guinn and took away their small son, aged seven months and seven days.

Walter Ferrell was calling on his best girl Sunday.

The intermediate Sunday school class is progressing nicely since the class has been organized.

Arnold Barker and Miss Hazel Sanders seem to be enjoying themselves these days.

There is a large bunch of folks in town with very sore arms since the vaccination for typhoid fever.

Dr. J.T. Ferrell and Miss Maude Fillinger were seen at church Saturday night.

Ennal Yeager had a new girl Sunday.

We are sorry that Grover Lowe has left our town. He has been the superintendent of the Sunday school at the Christian church for the past year. We have had a good Sunday school ever since he has been here. O.C. Winters has taken his place.

The grading is done, and the road from here to Peck’s Mill is open to traffic.

Mrs. Albert Cabell of Yantus died last Sunday morning after a lingering illness of several months.

H.T. Butcher destroyed some high powered mash  near Canna Creek a few days ago. So far no one has appeared to claim it.

Young Joker Dingess was visiting at Squire Barker’s Sunday.

There is a movement on foot to incorporate this town again. This will test out how many tight-wads there are here.

Newt Munsey and Walter Crislip have formed a partnership to operate a hack line from here to Logan. They will do their own driving. It will be known as the Safety line.

Arnold Barker is now clerking in the retail department of the G.S. Chapman store. Arnold is right there when it comes to waiting on the ladies.

Since the new mines have started everybody is at work except the Sons of Rest.

A gentleman from Christian spent the night here Sunday night trying to get his car started, but it would not go, so the next morning he gave a mechanic $1 to tell him he had no has in the tank.

The Democrats here are exclaiming: “How wise we are when the chance is gone, And a glance we backward cast. We know just the thing we should have done, When the time for doing is past.”

We are having some nice weather at this writing.

Mrs. Rosie Price was visiting her daughter, Mrs. M.C. Conley, Sunday.

Arnold Barker and Virgil Ferrell were out walking Sunday.

Miss Opal Johnson seemed to be awful busy sewing flower seeds Saturday afternoon.

Walter and Carlos Ferrell were seen walking the lonesome road Sunday afternoon.

Mr. Munsey and Jack Conley were working on their automobile Sunday morning.

The Phico girls and boys seem to enjoy coming to Chapmanville church nowadays.

Miss Gracie Workman was out horse back riding Sunday afternoon.

Wonder why Mr. L.F. Price is visiting in Big Creek so often.

Mrs. Garnet Jeffery and children were visiting her mother Saturday and Sunday.

Wonder why Arnold Barker is looking so downhearted nowadays? Cheer up, Arnold. Maybe it is not so.

Walter Workman escorted Miss Connie Bentley home Saturday night from church.

Robert Carter was out horseback riding early Saturday morning.

Brack Walls escorted Elna Cox home from church Friday night.

We all hope Miss Beulah Ballard and Mr. Snidow will get along fine with the Diploma test this year.

Opal Johnson, Lillian and Agnes Whitman were out walking Sunday.

Misses Hazel Conley and Minnie Workman were out walking Saturday afternoon.

Tom Barker is enjoying life fine, going up Lowe Hollow nowadays.

Arnold Barker spent time last Monday and Tuesday in Huntington on business.

We noticed quite a lot of the Harts Creek boys going down to Huntington the first of the week to see the Hon. G.W. McClintie. Some of them said they did not know just when they would get back.

If we ever incorporate this town our first police is going to be a woman. We know she can make one man be good.

G.S. Ferrell has taken over the contract for grading the lower end of the hard road.

Singing school is getting a good start. It is hard to tell who makes the ugliest faces. At present, it is about a tie between Squire Barker and Morgan Garrett.

Mrs. Mart Bryant who has been quite ill for several days is some better now.

Chin Beard Lucas was dealing in real estate here Monday.

H.T. Butcher, the prohibition man, is attending federal court in Huntington this week.

John Sanders, the truant officer, was in town Tuesday.

Tucker Fry, of Toney, W.Va., was looking after the interest of the Singer Sewing Machine Co., on Tuesday here.

French Butcher says he has decided to make some stump speeches during this campaign.

Bill Thompson has purchased himself a motorcycle.
