This is very interesting, thank you for sharing. I have a photograph taken of my great-grandmother, Rose Marie Johnson, and two of her sisters, Lena Johnson and Ava Eleanor Johnson, that was taken in 1917 and on the reverse it says “CARTER & CARTER LOGAN W VA.” I wonder if the “Cartes” in the newspaper was a typo?
