Thanks for posting! My mother Freda Chapman is 85 years old and her parents name was Susan and Frank Adams. Susan was a Mullins and they both grew up on Harts Creek WVa. Peter Mullins was Susans brother. I read your book and I am sure that they are relatives. Great read!

Hi, Susan. You are absolutely correct. Frank’s father, Solomon Adams, was the son of Anthony Adams, and nephew of Benjamin Adams, both of whom appear frequently in the book. Squire Sol, as he was later known, also appears in the book. In 1995, I visited Minnie Tomblin-Smith in the old Squire Sol cabin at Whirlwind. I’ve been to see Frank and Susan’s grave, although it has been many years ago, as well as all of the other Adams cemeteries on Harts Creek. It’s a very interesting and historical family, as you likely know. My fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Anna Workman, was descended from Frank and Susan; she was an excellent teacher. The fact you also descend from Barney Carter through Susan is special. Barney was the highest ranking officer from Harts Creek during the War Between the States. I’m glad to know you enjoyed the book. Thanks for letting me know…
Ann Workman is my mothers sister, my aunt! She was a wonderful lady, but she passed away a few years ago. Thank you for all the research you’ve done!
