Hi, Larry. It’s so good to hear from you again. Your post brought up the names of some of the most important persons who have ever lived in my community. Many of the names also represent my family or old family friends to my more immediate relatives. As a local historian, your Adkins line has always interested me due to the large and important role played by Burl Adkins and others in Harts Creek affairs. (I actually research your Adkins line more than my own Adkins line.) I could not provide enough complimentary words for any of your relatives. My community certainly misses those who have left us.
i have many fond memories of our summer visits to Harts. My mother moved to Delaware in 1944 to work and met my dad there. We visited Harts every summer for several weeks and always stayed at lease one night with great grandad and granny adkins where we children always slept on a big feather down mattress on the floor. johnny golden and i are about the same age as is uncle gary chapman. the chapmans helped to settle chapmansville. lots of great history in our families, including the kirk family. i was always fond of my uncle custer mccann and his family.
