Nice photo, I believe Andrew Lewis Sias is my great-great-great grandfather as well. His daughter Charlotte (Sias ) Huffman was the mother of my grandfather Lawrence Huffman.
Hi, Cousin. You are absolutely correct. I hadn’t located any of Aunt Lottie’s family. They moved away to Pocahontas County. Nice to meet you here at the blog.
Nice to meet you as well Cousin. It is difficult finding information on the Huffman/Sias side of the family, having much better success on the Hicks side.
I can help you plenty. I live in the vicinity where our ancestors lived in the 1800s. If you contact me by email, I can better send information. brankirk@yahoo.com
Hello Brandon, I am doing research on Jenkins Brigade at the Battle of Gettysburg.
Do you have a muster roll for the 34th Virginia Cavalry at Gettysburg? They were involved in the cavalry battle at East Cavalry Field.
Thank you,

Indeed they were! I visited ECB, specifically the Rummel farm, in 2000 and recorded an interview with Dan Hoffman. I have copied the muster rolls for the 34th in digital form. So I have that. I also know of two actual muster rolls here in my community; they are in the hands of Barney Carter’s descendants. I tried to photograph one of them before the days of iPhones, so I do have photographs but they are not very good by today’s standards.
My great grandfather was Major John A.McFarlane, of the 34th. He is buried in Rosedale, Va in the family cemetery.
Do you know where I can find what the uniform he wore may have looked like?
Many thanks and God Bless you for maintaining our history.
