This is wonderful. Thank you so much. Viewed the Melvin Kirk cemetary, this is my family.
Thanks, Mark. It’s also my family.
I now know your grand father was Pat who was a brother to my grand father Albert. I found a photo in my Dads things that was of a family picnic with Susan and all of the siblings. I would like to e-mail or however you would like a copy of this. I think the descendants would like this. You have a better avenue of getting it to them than I do. Reply if you would like a digital copy and I will get it to you>
Hi, Mark. Uncle Albert always hired my great-grandfather Pat to work in the mines when he needed a job. I live beside of the house where Albert died. Our family loved Albert. My grandfather gave a few of Uncle Albert’s things to me. I have several photos of him when he was young. He was deputized under one or both of the Hatfield sheriffs. Not long ago, I met a 90-or-so-year-old gentleman named George “Rebel” Brumfield who remembered him well. Albert used to visit his father in Logan. I think we have a copy of the Kirk picture you referenced: the whole family is standing up in a line, right? I was told that Uncle Albert organized a reunion and the picture was taken on that day. Bill Kirk of Oklahoma used to visit my grandfather, Ray, until his death. I hope to see you soon.
