Where in the world did you find that picture at? Its the first time I’ve ever seen him.
Hi, John. I located the picture of Ward Lucas recently in the possession of his granddaughter, a resident of Big Ugly Creek. I also recently located the Squire Toney family Bible. Do you descend from these people? Email me and I’ll send you copies.
Yep, Ward was my grandfather too. I’m son of Pershing who was son of Ward. Ward and his wife Jessie Ferrell died in 1918 during the great flu epidemic. Pershing was born that year. He was raise on Big Ugly by the Ferrell clan up at the mouth of Big Deaden. Bud, Ed, Frank, and George were all his uncles. Pershing’s older brothers’ Wandel and Ford were raised by the Lucas’. Mom Olive Pearl McCoy was granddaughter of Squire Toney by way of her mother Maude Toney married to John McCoy. Squire and Nancy and John and Maude are all buried over at the cemetery at the foot of limestone mountain on the big ugly side where I was raised. The old cabin(house) is still there. I lived in it till I was 8 or 9 years old. I was a student of your dad in his first teaching job and on his first team he ever coached, and we won him a championship in 78. Sister Cathy said you had a book coming out so I was kinda rooting around for that.
Curiosity lead me here for any of my long lost relatives I would love to here from. As far as I can surmise Evermont is my great grandfather as I am the grandson of Fordie K Lucas .
Fordie is my Uncle, as I am son of Pershing.
Hi John Happy New Years ! I was looking for another email
and saw your reply in my spam folder so good to hear from you . Can you tell me a little about our family and my great grandpa Evermont ? I read that he died young in his 30’s from the flu epedemic ,I don’t know much about my fathers side of the family other than what I have been able to track down on the internet. My grandfather Fordie did not share any stories.
Thank you for responding
Bell well,
Mark Lucas
