Enjoying the blog, Brandon. I’ve just passed along your site to my Uncle Mark and Aunt Shirley who hope to find you on their computer. I’d never seen a picture of my great-grandfather, Fed Adkins, was pleased to find that.
I’ll share a bit of history from over on Big Ugly relating to the Culture of Violence category. It has to do with Mother’s people, the Lamberts, Sam and Georgie, who are my great-grandparents. They raised Mother and Aunt Mildred. Mother has told me about Grandma’s nephew, Sid Toney, who killed Grandpa’s brother, Chris Lambert. It was over WPA jobs, Mother said, and had to do with cut-offs. Uncle Chris lived nine days. Sid served time in Moundsville. Grandpa Lambert was a deputy sheriff over there and had gone to serve a warrant when the shooting happened. Mother thinks they took Chris to the hospital in Grandpa’s truck which was loaded with props. She’s not sure of that though.
Please give Mark and his family my best regards.
